DVA laundry service in Perth

Once DVA has approved your laundry, we arrange it and handle the invoicing with DVA.

Veteran Home Help is an independent private business. We are not part of, endorsed by or acting for the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) or any government agency. DVA decides what you are approved for.

About Rob and Paul

How we fit your laundry to your DVA approval

Laundry has its own line on a DVA approval, separate from cleaning and ironing. An approval might show, for example, 3 hours for cleaning and 1 hour of laundry, and each is booked and invoiced on its own. We read the laundry line with you: how many laundry services a year and the most DVA pays for each. Our usual plan is about an hour a week, and the shortest laundry approvals we've seen allow 1 hour a service, which is up to $79.90 at DVA's 2026 standard rate including GST. In that hour, we agree what matters most to you, such as washing and drying your clothes and bed linen, then book the weekly visits your letter allows. We do the laundry your approval pays for: if a week's washing would take longer than the approved time, we agree together what comes first instead of going over it. DVA can pay up to $633.47 a week for all your household services together, and we keep your visits within your approval. We invoice DVA after each visit.

Does DVA pay for laundry? Yes, if laundry is on your approval: DVA's policy manual names laundry as a household service, and DVA pays up to the amount your letter sets for each one.

How Rob describes what Veteran Home Help is for:

“Providing services for Veterans with DVA approval. We remove all the hassle of finding a quality service provider.”

What's included in our DVA laundry

Our DVA laundry covers the tasks below, booked within your approved amount and as often as your approval allows. We agree exactly what's included with you before the first visit, within your approval. Anything your DVA approval doesn't list isn't included, because DVA pays only for the services on your letter.

Included

  • Washing and drying your clothes and household linen
  • Visits planned around your approval, usually about an hour a week (example only)

Not included

  • Ironing, unless your approval lists it as well
  • Services your DVA approval doesn't list

How DVA-funded laundry works with us

Three steps, once DVA has approved your laundry. We don't lodge claims: you, or someone you nominate, apply to DVA first.

  1. Call us or send the form

We check with you that your approval lists laundry, how many services a year it allows and the most DVA pays for each.

  2. Email us your two documents

After we've spoken, email us your approval letter and the one-page supplier sheet with your Transaction Reference Number (TRN).

  3. We book your laundry and invoice DVA

We agree with you what's done in your approved time, book the visits as your letter lists them, and invoice DVA after each one.

What to send usNot sure which papers you have? Call us and we'll talk you through them.

DVA's rule is that anything above your approval is yours to pay, so we fit each visit to your approval.

Household services or Veterans' Home Care for laundry?

Clothes and linen washing is part of the Domestic Assistance offered by DVA's Veterans' Home Care (VHC) program. Under VHC, laundry help comes from a VHC provider that DVA allocates, with a co-payment of $5 an hour and no more than $5 in any week. Household services can include laundry too, approved as its own service with a set amount per visit, and under household services you choose the provider. What decides it is which program approved you, not the task. An MRCA household services approval and VHC Domestic Assistance can't be combined, so if you hold that approval and it lists laundry, your laundry comes through it. We take household services approvals only, and your letter shows which program you're on.

DVA laundry questions

The two questions veterans and their families ask us most come first, then the ones about laundry itself.

Do you handle the paperwork?

Once laundry is approved, yes. The two documents we need are the approval letter and the supplier information sheet, a single page that came with it; with those, we invoice DVA for every laundry visit. Applying to DVA is the step we don't do: you lodge the claim, or someone you nominate does, and an ex-service organisation advocate can help.

Which other services can you provide?

House cleaning and ironing, and, for single-storey homes, window, solar panel and gutter cleaning. Your approval decides which of these DVA pays for, and we book each separately.

More on this

What if there's more washing than my approval covers?

We do the laundry your approval pays for. When a week's washing would take longer than the approved time, we agree with you what to wash and dry first, and the visit stays within your approval.

More on this

How often can you do my laundry?

As often as your letter allows, which sets a number of laundry services a year and the most DVA pays for each. About an hour a week is what we usually plan, and the shortest laundry approvals we've seen allow 1 hour a service.

More on this

Can laundry and ironing be booked together?

Yes, when both are on your approval. They're still two services: each has its own line on your letter, and we book and invoice each one as that line shows it.

Does Veterans' Home Care cover laundry?

VHC's Domestic Assistance includes clothes and linen washing, so laundry can come through VHC, with its co-payment and a VHC provider DVA allocates. If you hold an MRCA household services approval, VHC Domestic Assistance isn't open to you, and if that approval lists laundry, your laundry comes through it instead.

Where this comes from

The DVA facts on this page come from DVA's own pages, listed below with the date we last checked each one, and from a real DVA approval letter we've seen (anonymised, read on 19 October 2026). Rob's words, and anything we say we've seen, come from his own DVA work.

This page was last updated on 26 October 2026. DVA decides what you are approved for; if anything here differs from your own letter, your letter is what counts.
