Who runs Veteran Home Help
Rob Menzies (south of the river) and Paul Hennessey (north), two Perth service business owners. Rob's business has done over 100 DVA jobs in four years, from house cleaning, ironing and laundry to windows and solar panels, and Rob looks after every DVA enquiry. Paul has run his own window, solar panel and gutter cleaning business north of the river for three years, including work for DVA clients. Both are trained to work at heights.
How we fit your gutter cleaning to your DVA approval
Gutter cleaning is priced on the length of guttering and how complex the job is, so we look at your home and your approval together before booking. Your letter shows how many gutter cleans DVA will fund in the year, and what each one can cost at most. We then measure the job against that amount: a short run of guttering on a simple roof fits easily, while a longer run, or a roof that's harder to reach, takes more time. We clean gutters on single-storey homes only, and Paul's own business has cleaned gutters for DVA clients north of the river. We aim to fit the clean to your approved amount. A top-up can come up with a gutter clean on a home larger than the approval covers; if that's your home, we tell you before booking, and you choose to pay the difference or settle on a shorter clean within your approval. DVA's standard rate in 2026 is $79.90 an hour including GST, and the weekly limit across all your household services is $633.47. We invoice DVA once the gutters are done.
Does DVA pay for gutter cleaning? It can: gutter cleaning is listed by name in DVA's household services policy manual, so it's paid for whenever your approval includes it, to the limit your letter sets for each clean.

The most DVA will pay for gutter cleaning in 2026
DVA pays for gutter cleaning up to the maximum cost per service on your approval, and up to $633.47 a week for all your household services together. In 2026, DVA's standard maximum rate is $79.90 an hour including GST. How far your approved amount goes depends on the size of your home, so we quote each home before we book. Anything above your approved amount per service, or above the weekly limit, is yours to pay, and we tell you before we book.

Household services or Veterans' Home Care for gutter cleaning?
A veteran on VHC may already have gutter cleaning, because DVA's Veterans' Home Care (VHC) program lists gutters under Home and Garden Maintenance. VHC home and garden help runs to at most 15 hours in 12 months, with a $5 an hour co-payment and a $75 ceiling for the year, from a VHC provider DVA allocates. Under household services, gutter cleaning is approved as its own service, the amount per clean is on your letter, and you pick who does it. Since gutters are priced on length and complexity, that per-clean amount matters. You can't hold both for the same help: an MRCA household services approval rules out VHC Home and Garden Maintenance. We clean gutters for household services approvals.

DVA gutter cleaning questions
The two questions veterans and their families ask us most come first, then the ones about gutter cleaning itself.
Do you handle the paperwork?
We handle the DVA side once you're approved. Email us the two documents DVA sent with your approval, the letter and the supplier information sheet, and we invoice DVA once your gutters are done. Lodging the claim stays with you or someone you nominate; a cleaning business can't do it for you.
Which other services can you provide?
Window and solar panel cleaning on single-storey homes, and house cleaning, ironing and laundry. Your approval has to list a service for DVA to pay for it, and we book each one on its own.
What if my home needs more gutter cleaning than my approval covers?
It can happen: a gutter clean on a home larger than the approval covers is one case where a top-up comes up. We price the job on its length and complexity, tell you before booking, and it's your choice whether to pay the extra or keep the clean within your approved amount.
How is gutter cleaning priced?
On the length of guttering and how complex the job is, measured against the amount your approval allows per clean. We look at your home before booking and tell you upfront if the clean is above your approved amount.
Do you clean gutters on two-storey homes?
No. Gutters, like windows and solar panels, are cleaned on single-storey homes only.
Does Veterans' Home Care cover gutter cleaning?
It can. Gutters are on the VHC Home and Garden Maintenance list, which comes with a co-payment and a limit of 15 hours in 12 months. An MRCA household services approval rules VHC home and garden help out, so with one, your gutter cleaning comes through your approval instead, if it lists gutter cleaning.
