DVA house cleaning in Perth
Once DVA has approved your house cleaning, we arrange it and handle the invoicing with DVA.
Veteran Home Help is an independent private business. We are not part of, endorsed by or acting for the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) or any government agency. DVA decides what you are approved for.

Who runs Veteran Home Help
Rob Menzies (south of the river) and Paul Hennessey (north), two Perth service business owners. Rob's business has done over 100 DVA jobs in four years, from house cleaning, ironing and laundry to windows and solar panels, and Rob looks after every DVA enquiry.
How we fit your house cleaning to your DVA approval
Your DVA approval letter is where we start. It lists house cleaning as a service, with the number of cleans allowed each year and the maximum DVA will pay per clean, for a set period such as 12 months. We go through it with you and turn that amount into time in your home: at DVA's 2026 standard rate of $79.90 an hour including GST, a clean approved at up to $239.70 buys a 3-hour visit. We typically plan house cleaning on a fortnightly basis, about 3 hours a visit, which comes to 26 cleans a year, although the shortest approvals we've seen allow 2 hours a clean. Before the first visit, we agree with you which rooms and jobs matter most, then we set up the recurring visits so you never have to book each one. We do the cleaning your approval pays for. On a larger home, that means agreeing together which rooms come first in the approved time, rather than going over it. After each clean, we invoice DVA. We don't lodge claims: you, or someone you nominate, apply to DVA.
Does DVA pay for house cleaning? Yes, when your household services approval lists it: cleaning is one of the household services DVA says it may approve, up to the amount on your letter.
From Rob
How we plan house cleaning for a DVA client, in Rob's words:
“On a fortnightly basis on the DVA hourly rate allowance.”
What's included in our DVA house cleaning
Our DVA house cleaning covers the tasks below, booked within your approved amount and as often as your approval allows. We agree exactly what's included with you before the first visit, within your approval. Anything your DVA approval doesn't list isn't included, because DVA pays only for the services on your letter.
Included
- Dusting and vacuuming
- General cleaning of the rooms you choose, within your approved time
- Visits booked to match your approval, for example a 3-hour clean every fortnight (example only)
Not included
- Services your DVA approval doesn't list
- Household maintenance, pest control and tree work (DVA doesn't count these as household services)

The most DVA will pay for house cleaning in 2026
DVA pays for house cleaning up to the maximum cost per service on your approval, and up to $633.47 a week for all your household services together. In 2026, DVA's standard maximum rate is $79.90 an hour including GST. As an example only, a 3-hour clean comes to up to $239.70 at that rate; your approval sets your own amount. DVA's rule is that anything above your approval is yours to pay, so we fit each visit to your approval.
| DVA's standard maximum rate in 2026 | $79.90 an hour, including GST |
|---|---|
| A 3-hour clean | Up to $239.70 (3 x $79.90). Example only: your approval sets the amount. |
| Weekly limit DVA can pay, from 1 July 2026 | $633.47 a week for all your household services |
| What you pay | DVA's rule: anything above your approved amount per service, and anything above the weekly limit. We fit each visit to your approval. |

Household services or Veterans' Home Care for house cleaning?
DVA's Veterans' Home Care (VHC) program lists house cleaning under its Domestic Assistance, so some veterans get their cleaning through VHC instead. The two programs work differently. Under VHC, DVA allocates one of its contracted VHC providers and you pay a co-payment of $5 an hour, capped at $5 a week. Under household services, DVA approves a number of cleans and an amount for each, and you choose who does them. You can't have both: with an MRCA household services approval, you can't also receive VHC Domestic Assistance. We work with household services approvals. If your letter comes from VHC, your cleaning is arranged through your VHC provider, and DVA can tell you which program you're on.

From customers of the businesses run by our team, about their house cleaning.
“It's a real relief having someone come in and take care of the cleaning. The team is always friendly, reliable and respectful of my home. It makes a big difference knowing I can count on them every week.”
Robert M., Joondalup “The cleaners do a wonderful job and always treat me with kindness. Having a clean and comfortable home without having to worry about doing everything myself has made life much easier.”
Margaret T., Baldivis “I appreciate having the same friendly people helping me around the house. They're thorough, professional and always take the time to make sure everything is done properly. I couldn't be happier with the service.”

DVA house cleaning questions
The two questions veterans and their families ask us most come first, then the ones about house cleaning itself.
Do you handle the paperwork?
Yes, once DVA has approved your house cleaning. You email us your approval letter and the one-page supplier information sheet that came with it, and we invoice DVA after every clean. What we can't do is apply for you: you, or someone you nominate, lodge the claim with DVA, and ex-service organisation advocates can help with that.
Which other services can you provide?
Ironing and laundry, plus window, solar panel and gutter cleaning on single-storey homes. Each is booked as a separate service, and only when your approval lists it.
What if my home is bigger than my approval covers?
We do the cleaning your approval pays for. Before the first visit, we agree with you which rooms and jobs come first in the approved time, so the ones that matter most to you are done at every visit, and each clean stays within your approval.
How often can I have my house cleaned through DVA?
As often as your approval allows: the letter lists the number of cleans a year and the most DVA pays for each. Fortnightly cleans of about 3 hours are what we plan most often, and the shortest house cleaning approvals we've seen allow 2 hours a clean.
Can I have Veterans' Home Care cleaning as well?
Not alongside an MRCA household services approval. DVA says that once you have one, VHC Domestic Assistance, which is where VHC's house cleaning sits, is no longer available to you. If you're unsure which program your cleaning comes under, check your letter or call DVA on 1800 VETERAN (1800 838 372).
What if I need to cancel a clean?
Give us at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or move a visit. A clean cancelled at shorter notice is charged, and because DVA only pays for services that are delivered, that charge is yours rather than DVA's. Our Terms set this out.
