DVA IRONING · PERTH

DVA ironing service in Perth

Once DVA has approved your ironing, we arrange it and handle the invoicing with DVA.

Veteran Home Help is an independent private business. We are not part of, endorsed by or acting for the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) or any government agency. DVA decides what you are approved for.

About Rob and Paul

How we fit your ironing to your DVA approval

If your DVA approval doesn't name ironing, DVA won't pay for it, even when cleaning or laundry is on the same letter, so the ironing line is the first thing we look for. That line gives the number of ironing visits per year and DVA's ceiling for each one. We usually plan ironing as about an hour a week. The shortest ironing approvals we've seen allow 1 hour a service, which at DVA's 2026 rate of $79.90 an hour, GST included, comes to up to $79.90 a visit. Before the first visit, we agree what goes into that hour, such as the shirts you wear most or your bed linen, then we set up the weekly visits to match your letter. We do the ironing your approval pays for. If there is more than an hour's worth, we agree together what comes first rather than going over your approved time. Once each visit is done, we invoice DVA directly, quoting the Transaction Reference Number on your supplier sheet.

Does DVA pay for ironing? It can: DVA names ironing among the household services it may approve, and pays for it only when your own approval lists ironing.

The shortest domestic approvals Rob has seen, in his words:

“Domestic cleaning would be 2hrs. Ironing 1hr. Laundry 1hr.”

What's included in our DVA ironing

Our DVA ironing covers the tasks below, booked within your approved amount and as often as your approval allows. We agree exactly what's included with you before the first visit, within your approval. Anything your DVA approval doesn't list isn't included, because DVA pays only for the services on your letter.

Included

  • Ironing of your clothes and household linen
  • Visits planned around your approval, usually about an hour a week (example only)

Not included

  • Laundry, unless your approval lists it as well
  • Services your DVA approval doesn't list

How DVA-funded ironing works with us

Three steps, once DVA has approved your ironing. We don't lodge claims: you, or someone you nominate, apply to DVA first.

  1. Call us or send the form

We check with you that your approval lists ironing, how many services a year it allows and the most DVA pays for each.

  2. Email us your two documents

After we've spoken, email us your approval letter and the one-page supplier sheet with your Transaction Reference Number (TRN).

  3. We book your ironing and invoice DVA

We agree with you what's done in your approved time, book the visits as your letter lists them, and invoice DVA after each one.

What to send usNot sure which papers you have? Call us and we'll talk you through them.

The most DVA will pay for ironing in 2026

DVA pays for ironing up to the maximum cost per service on your approval, and up to $633.47 a week for all your household services together. In 2026, DVA's standard maximum rate is $79.90 an hour including GST. As an example only, a 1-hour ironing visit comes to up to $79.90 at that rate; your approval sets your own amount. DVA's rule is that anything above your approval is yours to pay, so we fit each visit to your approval.

Household services or Veterans' Home Care for ironing?

Ironing is one service where the two DVA programs differ: DVA's Veterans' Home Care page doesn't list ironing. Its Domestic Assistance covers house cleaning, dishwashing, clothes and linen washing, bed making, shopping and meal preparation, and ironing is not on that list. Ironing does appear among the services DVA says household services may include. So if ironing is what you need help with, household services is the program that names it, and your approval has to list ironing as a service for DVA to pay for it. The two programs don't run side by side either: once DVA approves household services for you under the MRCA, you can no longer receive VHC Domestic Assistance. Not sure which one you have? Your letter says, or DVA can tell you on 1800 VETERAN (1800 838 372).

DVA ironing questions

The two questions veterans and their families ask us most come first, then the ones about ironing itself.

Do you handle the paperwork?

For ironing, the paperwork after approval is ours. Send us your DVA approval letter and supplier information sheet, and we invoice DVA for each ironing visit using your Transaction Reference Number. The claim itself comes first and is yours to lodge, or a person you nominate can lodge it; we can't do that part.

Which other services can you provide?

House cleaning and laundry, booked as separate lines from your ironing, and window, solar panel and gutter cleaning for single-storey homes. We only book what your letter lists.

More on this

What if I need more ironing than my approval covers?

We do the ironing your approval pays for, usually about an hour a week. If there's more than that, we agree with you what comes first, such as the clothes you need that week, and the visit stays within your approved time.

More on this

How much ironing can I have?

Whatever your approval sets: a number of ironing services a year and a maximum cost for each. About an hour a week is our usual plan, and the shortest ironing approvals we've seen allow 1 hour a service.

More on this

What if my approval doesn't list ironing?

Then DVA won't pay for it, even if your approval covers cleaning or laundry. DVA decides what you're approved for, and you can contact DVA if your needs have changed. We can still help with the services your letter does list.

Does Veterans' Home Care cover ironing?

DVA's VHC page doesn't list ironing among its Domestic Assistance tasks. Household services is the DVA program that names ironing, and your approval has to list it for DVA to pay.

Where this comes from

The DVA facts on this page come from DVA's own pages, listed below with the date we last checked each one, and from a real DVA approval letter we've seen (anonymised, read on 19 October 2026). Rob's words, and anything we say we've seen, come from his own DVA work.

This page was last updated on 26 October 2026. DVA decides what you are approved for; if anything here differs from your own letter, your letter is what counts.
